The Flåm Railway is a 20 kilometer branch line off the Bergen Line, it runs through the spectacular Flåm Valley and connects the main line with the Sognefjord and the Flåm fjord village. UK, Germany, Australia and US citizens do not need a visa to travel to Norway for holiday purposes. Despite their latitude, Norway's fjords have a mild climate due to the Gulf Stream. The waters are rich with fish, porpoises and seals due to the lack of ice. Waterfalls are an impressive feature, and from Pulpit Rock you can see over the Lysefjord from over 600 metres above. The word 'fjord' comes from the Old Norse fjǫrthr and refers to a long stretch of sea between high cliffs.
